The Self-Destructing Message: The Information Governance Challenge of Ephemeral Messaging

June 1 @ 11:30 am - 11:50 pm

The ARMA Canada 2021 Conference is being held virtually from May 31 to June 2.  I will be presenting a session on June 1, 11:30-11:50 PST (2:30-2:50 EST).  Conference details can be found here.  A description of my session is below:

The Self-Destructing Message: The Information Governance Challenge of Ephemeral Messaging

Ephemeral messaging applications like Confide, SnapChat, and Telegram are designed to automatically delete messages from all devices (sender and recipient(s)) after they have been read or after a pre-set (and very brief) period of time.  The increasing use of ephemeral messaging to conduct business creates many information governance challenges.

This session will explore:

  • What is ‘ephemeral messaging’? (definition and examples)
  • Business benefits and risks of ephemeral messaging
  • Regulation of ephemeral messaging
  • Governing ephemeral messages: guidelines and tips
