SUMMARY:CANCELLED – Fundamentals of Business Classification and Retention Scheduling – 25 March, 2020 – Toronto, ON
DESCRIPTION:[framed_box width=”90%” bgColor=”#FCECFF” align=”center”]\nDue to the precautions being taken in response to the coronavirus, this session has been cancelled.  \nHopefully it can be rescheduled later in the year.\n[/framed_box]\nA records classification scheme and a retention schedule are integral parts of a Records and Information Management (RIM) Program. Without a classification scheme, records will be disorganized and difficult (or impossible) to find. Without a retention schedule, records destruction/deletion practices will be arbitrary and ad hoc, potentially contravene legislated requirements for keeping records, and likely fail to safeguard an organization’s archival records.\nThis session provides an introduction to developing and implementing a business classification scheme and a legally defensible records retention schedule.\n[framed_box width=”90%” bgColor=”#FCECFF” align=”center”]\nBusiness classification topics:\n\nRecords classification benefits\nDeveloping a business classification scheme\n\nData collection\nIdentifying functions, activities, and records\nValidation\n\n\nBusiness classification implementation tips\n\nRetention scheduling topics:\n\nRetention schedule benefits\nDeveloping a records retention schedule\n\nRecord values\nLegislated records retention requirements and statute of limitation periods\nRetention scheduling challenges (e.g. multiple jurisdictions)\n\n\nRetention schedule implementation tips\n\n[/framed_box]\nFor more information or to register please visit ARMA Toronto ( http://armatoronto.on.ca/?p=1256 ).  To register please go to Eventbrite ( https://www.eventbrite.com/e/fundamentals-of-business-classification-and-retention-scheduling-tickets-92203967549 ).\n
