SUMMARY:Law for Records Managers– iSchool Institute RM Certificate Course
DESCRIPTION:This spring I will once again be teaching 4 certificate courses at the University of Toronto’s iSchool Institute.  The iSchool Institute is the Faculty of Information’s continuing education arm at U of T, and offer two certificate programs in Records Managment:  Records Management Fundamentals and Records Management Practice.  The certificates are offered several times a year in Toronto, Ottawa, Edmonton and on the web.\n \nOn May 6 I will be teaching the course on Law for Records Management.  It is the first course of the Practice certificate.\nHere is the course description from the iSchool website:\n[framed_box]\nLaw for Records Management\nThis course examines the aspects of Canadian law that affect the management of records, provides guidance in researching legislated records retention requirements and limitation periods in Canadian statutes and regulations, and identifies selected U.S. laws (e.g. The Sarbanes-Oxley Act) that may affect the record keeping practices of Canadian businesses.
