I will be delivering a half day presentation on researching Canadian retention requirements in Winnipeg for the Manitoba Connections Workshop Series on November 9, 2015. The session description follows:
Researching Canadian Records Retention Requirements
Legislated/regulatory requirements govern the retention of some of the records your organization creates/receives. Attend this workshop to learn how Canadian laws are enacted, how to research Canadian legislated/regulatory requirements for retaining records, and how to monitor proposed new/amended legislation (federal or provincial/territorial) that may impact your organization’s records retention practices in the future.
The workshop will also examine the importance of statute of limitation periods when setting retention periods and include a demonstration of the primary and secondary resources for researching legislated/regulatory records retention requirements in Canadian law.

- Learn how to research Canadian legislated/regulatory records retention requirements and statute of limitation period
- Learn how to monitor proposed new/amended legislation (federal or provincial/territorial) that may impact your organization’s records retention practices
